‘To give is the greatest gift.’  and the wordsmiths are the givers. No words are enough to describe the contribution of the writers in the lives of people. The writers don’t just write to entertain, they provide us a way to deal and fight with our demons.The works of writers give us the wings of imagination and show us the door of escapism. India being a hub of mixed cultures is home to many famous writers who by their talent have won several prizes.The top 10 Indian writers who by their presence have brought a difference are listed here.

10. Salman Rushdie

The famous British-Indian novelist and essayist.His novel, ‘Midnight’s Children’  (1981), won the  Booker prize in 1981 and was deemed to be “the best novel of all winners. In his works he combines realism with fiction, taking the base ground as India.

9. Amitav Ghosh

a famous Indian writer. Best known for his work in English fiction. His works like, ‘Sea Of Poppies’, ‘Opium War’, ‘The Hungry Tide’ etc. have gained a lot of importance. He has been nominated for Man Booker Prize, besides being honored with the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.

8. Chetan Bhagat

The young Indian author has brought to light, the mindset of the younger generation and has attracted a great deal of admiration from youth. Amish, Indian author, famous  for his great work called,“The Shiva Trilogy”, consisting of the three books “The Immortals Of  Meluha”, “The Secret Of Nagas” and the third ,” Oath Of The Vayuputras” [3] The Shiva Trilogy by Amish was the fastest selling book series in Indian publishing history. the young Indian writer has gained heights in his literary career. Apart from his novels, he is into writing daily soaps and has received great response from the youth.
