New Calendar Issued For UP Madarsas: Ramzan Holidays Cut Short While Hindu Festivals Included!

Yogi Adityanth, the Chief Minister of Lucknow has once again popped up in the news headlines for his decision regarding the number of holidays to be allowed in the State’s Madarsas. After his earlier decision on making recitation of National Anthem mandatory on Independence Day in Madarsas; He is back with the new order decreasing the number of holidays to be granted. As per the sources, the Chief Minister has reduced the number of holidays allowed in Madarsas from 92 to 82.

On Tuesday the Yogi Government came with the annual calendar for the Madarsas which includes holidays on certain Hindu festivals while decreasing the number of holidays for the Muslim festivals! To be noted that earlier the Madarsas remained closed on Muslim festivals only and on Holi and Ambedkar Jayanti! But with the new order, they are supposed to stay closed on the Mahanavmi, Dussehra, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Buddh Purnima and Mahavir Jayanti too, in turn, decreasing the number of Ramzan holidays to just 4 days.

The clerics have expressed their discontent over the Chief Ministers’ orders and have requested for the increase in the number of holidays for the Holy Month of Ramzan.
