With less than a month to go, India’s hopes for winning a medal at the Rio Olympics have received a major set-back. Ace archer Deepika Kumari, the leader of the women archery team, is suffering from intense pain owing to injury in her right shoulder. The other members of the team include Laxmi Rani Majhi and Bombayla Devi.
Kumari, who is ranked number 5 in the world, will be replaced by Rimil Buriuly if she does not recover in time.
Deepika is in Mumbai to consult a specialist at the Breach Candy hospital. The focus of her treatment is bicep tendon. Initially, the doctor prescribed medication. However, this was not a feasible option since Deepika needs to train for the upcoming Rio Games.
Those who know about her condition have informed that the swelling will remain for a few days but Deepika will recover pretty soon. She continues her training despite the pain! Way to go, Girl!
