The infamous Babri Masjid Demolition Case has again raised its head and is back into headlines. This time, proving to be a great setback for the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP), as its leader Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharati are pressed upon with the charges. The three were granted bail earlier by signing a bond of Rs. 20,000.

The charges of criminal conspiracy under section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Court(IPC) are pressed against them all when they were presented before the CBI court in Lucknow today. The court rejected their discharge application and framed charges against them and other nine accused in this case. However, the accused have decided to move against the CBI court in the Allahabad High Court.

Apart from this, the court has summoned BJP leader Vinay Katiyar, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Vishnu Hari Dalmia and Sadhvi Ritambara to the court. The court has given orders that no application for adjournment or exemption from appearance in the court will be entertained.

The Supreme Court had, on April 19th, ordered the prosecution of Advani, Joshi and Bharti along with the other accused in the case. The court also ordered the case to be concluded in two years. The apex court told the trial court in Lucknow to conduct day-to-day trial so that the case can be concluded in two years. The orders of apex court also include the denying of conduction of any fresh trials.

The political leaders are out now with their views, the BJP leader Uma Bharti, who is one of the accused before the trial said, “I was present in Ayodhya on 6 December 1992, which is no secret….In a matter concerning God, my hopes also rest on God. Because I contributed (in the movement) with complete faith, I don’t consider myself guilty.” Whilst she refused to give any comments after the verdict of the court.

The BJP leader, Vinay Katiyar has said that the Babri Masjid movement was spontaneous and that no conspiracy was present in it.

The Congress leaders have come on to ask for the removal of Uma Bharti from her position. In relation to the CBI court’s giving them bail but not discharging them of the charges, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala hopes PM will ask Uma Bharti to resign.

The leaders of BJP still have faith in their leaders. one of the BJP leader Sudesh Verma has shown confidence and said, all 12 accused will be held non-guilty when the verdict comes after two years.
