1. Amitabh Bachchan.
The superstar of Hindi cinema was born in Allahabad, UP on October 11, 1942. His family roots can be traced down to a village in Pratapgarh district of UP. Now we know why his dialogue delivery is so impeccable!
2. Naseeruddin Shah.
This extremely talented actor was born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh on July 20, 1949 to Muslim parents. He was one of the three sons born to Aley Mohhamed Shah and his wife Farrukh Sultan.
He has carved a niche for himself in commercial as well as parallel cinema. He has also acted in many international films. Quite impressive, we say!
3. Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
This winner of Special jury award in 2012 was born at a humble town of Budhana in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on May 19, 1974. The eldest amongst eight siblings in the Zamindari Muslim family, has come a long way since his early years of struggle.
This powerhouse performer was recently caught on camera tilling his farms in his native village. This is what we call staying rooted!
4. Anushka Sharma.
The Band Baaja Baraat fame actress was born on May 1, 1988 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Her father Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma belongs to Uttar Pradesh while her mother Ashima Sharma is a Garhwali.
Her genetics have certainly endowed her with great looks and height!
5. Rajpal Yadav.
This National School of Drama graduate known for his perfect comic timing has roots back in a small town called Kundra in the Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
He was born on March 16, 1971 and later joined Baharatendu Natya Academy of Dramatic Arts. Most of us remember him as Mithilesh Shukla, the protagonist in a Lucknow based film ‘Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh’.
6. Disha Patani.
The actress playing love interest of protagonist in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story was born in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, this model turned actress completed her B.Tech degree from Amity University, Lucknow.

7. Saurabh Shukla.
This National Award winner for Best Supporting Role in Jolly LLB, was born on March 2, 1963 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. At the young age of two, his family shifted to Delhi.
He is best known for his roles in films like Satya, Jolly LLB, Barfi!, PK and Kick. He is also a screenwriter and director.

8. Zakir Hussain.
Not to be confused with Tabla Maestro, namesake Zakir hussain debuted as an actor in Ramgopal Varma’s Ek Hasina Thi in 2004. He hasn’t looked back ever since then. Sarkar, Badlapur, Black Friday, Paan Singh Tomar, Maazii, Alone are some of the films he has acted in.
This actor with a vast body of work behind him was born and brought up in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He is all set with his upcoming film Raees starring Shahrukh Khan.
9. Zoya Afroz.
The Pond’s Femina Miss India International 2013 was born on January 10, 1994 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She has worked as a child artist in serials as well as films like Hum Sath Sath Hain, Kuch Naa Kaho, etc.
She has endorsed many brands and acted in numerous TV commercials. We last saw her acting in the film The Xposé in 2014.
10. Sushant Singh.
Sushant Singh was born in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. He has juggled many roles successfully and has been critically acclaimed for his acting skills in films like Satya, Kaun, Josh, Jungle, Ye Saali Zindagi, Hate Story 2 and Baby amongst many others.
He has acted in television serials like Viruddh and hosted some too like Savdhaan India and Wanted: High Alert.
Though these actors have a non filmy background, they have managed to taste success in the Indian Film Industry based on their power packed performances. Kudos to them!
